It’s not you – it’s me
by: Katherine B. Topolniski
I feel your strength every time I look at you.
You want me to look at you always,
But for me, there is more to see.
Never changing, always challenging.
It’s not you. It’s me.
I believe in you and know of your wisdom
You hold many answers, it’s true
But for me, I live to ask life.
Borrowed wisdom, inherited curiosity
It’s not you. It’s me.
I trust you to remain, my faith lives with you.
You enchant my soul, my heart.
But for me, the unfamiliar calls.
Common conscious, expanding awareness
It’s not you. It’s me.
I will always come home to balance with you.
You linger as a place to leave,
But for me, expedition leads the way.
Destined home, fortuitous quests
It’s not you. It’s me.
