The place that is

By: Katherine B. Topolniski

Momma always sang in the mountains,
And we would sing along, my sisters and me.
Daddy worked on the family legacy.
I live a life that chose me.

I return to the place that is home,
Waking up each day with enormous gratitude.
Absorbing the landscape, it absorbs me.
The geography asks me to stop.

I listen to the buzz of creation.
Songs deliver potency to the stories and the history.
Small discoveries of immense experience,
Invite me into legacy.
