Living in Radio

By: Katherine B. Topolniski

As the river flows, over toes, on it’s journey toward the ocean, music is born at bare feet. The heartbeat of the mountains and nature, so sonically in tune, draw me in like a child to an old radio on the shelf. I move in close to listen.

The mountains, a constant, humbling force, inspire inward conquests. The rivers keep flowing and life flows too, offering up experiences with the soul of an eagle and the belly of a worm.

Experiences overflow as my musical self emerges, expressing shyly from the depths of me. Connected and present in the mountains, the explorations of my inner landscape bring soundscapes into the world I live to create.

A grand orchestra it is, the summits, the trees, a little old radio, and me. The river’s rhythm is a simple melody within a symphony, and I a distinct droplet, a simple gift to the ocean of creativity.
